Quantum Materials as Sensors

We harness the sensitivity of quantum materials near critical points, where small external stimuli like strain, photons, or particles can trigger abrupt phase changes, allowing sensing concepts for nanometrology and dynamic signal detection. New review article published in Advanced Functional Materials!

In this review, we highlight how ultra-thin 2D materials are opening up a completely new way to build sensors. We reflect on the current frontiers for these atomically tiny structures with functional optical, magnetic, mechanical, or chemical performance.
